Weekly Dinner and Discussion:

Each semester, we gather on Tuesday evenings at Hill House from 6:30-8:30 for a meal, a presentation, and lively discussion. In addition to the instruction led by the director, various guests are invited to teach and speak. This past Spring semester, we explored the theme of Faith and Wealth in the Bible and according to several major figures in church history. For the Fall, we are in the middle of three short series on persecution in the early church, the three offices of Christ, and the relationship between spirituality and technology. No preparation or registration is required! Just show up and be part of the conversation with friends. All are welcome.

Weekend Excursions:

A few times per semester, Hill House invites students and faculty to gather on Saturdays for outings that explore Austin’s outdoor and arts scene. Whether it’s a hike in the Greenbelt, a day on Lake Austin, attending the Opera (usually on a Sunday afternoon), or participating in the annual East Austin Studio Tour, the goal is to experience the riches of our city’s culture and natural beauty.

Monthly Lectures and Guest Scholars:

Each month we invite exemplary researchers and practitioners to join us for a meal and speak on various topics. These will be announced as the semester unfolds. The focus of the lectures for the Spring varied from topics like Classical Education, Spirituality in a Digital Age, and the importance of Community for Faith Formation. You can listen to recent lecture recordings here.

Friday Film Forum and Pizza:

1-2 Fridays per month at 6:30pm, Hill House hosts a movie and pizza night with discussion. Hill House Film Forum is a movie and student-led event that recognizes great storytelling and celebrates a communal movie-watching experience. Each film is examined for how it might move us toward a better understanding of God, self, neighbor, and our world.

Daily Coffee, Library and Study Hours:

Come by Hill House any weekday before or after class for good coffee and a peaceful place to study, pray, browse our library, and meet with friends. We’re currently open from 1pm-6pm, Tuesday through Friday.
